La Zagaleta is exactly what the brochures describe: a private gated estate at the top of Benahavís, two private golf courses inside the perimeter, security at every gate, and a property stock of large villas with substantial plots. For apartment buyers the honest framing is that the estate is villa-only — there is essentially no apartment market inside the gates themselves. What buyers occasionally find adjacent to the estate are gated-community resales in neighbouring developments that share the Zagaleta address proximity. The asking-price floor for villas inside the estate is among the highest in Europe, and the buyer pool is small, vetted, and well-defined. We are honest about this market: it is specialist, illiquid, and not a fit for most apartment buyers.
